EMEU Minutes SG meeting 19 January 2021

Carole presents her new job at the National Education Board in her hometown Lille, France, which covers the regions North and Pas de Calais. Carole manages a consortium of about 60 regional colleges and in total she has contacts with some 120 VET colleges. Carole hopes to motivate them to become internationally active.

ACTION: Carole and EMEU representatives plan a physical presentation after corona.

QUESTIONS for Carole: 1. How many colleges in the regions mentioned are internationally active? 2. What is the nature of these activities (e.g. KA1, KA2). 3. Are there any colleges interested in joining the SPORTS and RETAIL Teams in EMEU?

EMEU is an active network. Our website should reflect this. Around submission time National Agencies tend to visit the site to see how active we are. Due to corona activities in our network have decreased dramatically. Hence, Alina has kindly accepted to be our NEWS – agent until the summer holidays 2021. The job entails placing news-items from the network onto the website and to urge partners to contribute to the NEWs when opportunities present themselves.

ACTION: all Steering Group members provide Alina interesting NEWS items (short text plus photograph (‘s).

There’s a suggestion to start offering virtual activities in the same mode as study modules. Questions are raised and options discussed, and we all think it’s a good idea.

ACTION: Carmen, Jaana, Ruben and Flemming discuss the feasibility and will at the next EMEU SG-meeting come forward with an implementation plan.

Ro rekindle the international flame in COVID times, it’s vital that the EMEU teams make an effort to have their students work virtually, naturally again within their capabilities. For this they can make use of the Manual of Virtual Activities or ad-hoc assignments. Any successes or other feedback can be used for the NEWS section.

ACTION: At the next EMEU SG meeting please provide a list of the Virtual Activities your EMEU team(-s) can offer in Spring ‘21

To further demonstrate we are an active network, we ask all SG members to stimulate their teams to plan study modules in the autumn 2021. Naturally this is very much dependent on the feasibility of the study module’ s program: e.g. gaining experience in a hospital may prove difficult. In that case, is it possible for hosting colleges to change the program to activities within their college?

Although still uncertain, we must assume that UK cannot participate in new mobility programs and/or KA2 projects. As a result, Eibar will look for another partner in the E4C project and the EMEU teams Sports and Retail.

ACTION: Alina to provide contact details of new partner asap. Naturally, we’re hoping that Bridgwater and Taunton will be able to continue hosting partner students, but with regard to all matters concerned we will maintain close contact with Jon.

As yet we do not know when the next KA2 submission date is, but expect it to be in April / beginning of May. This may mean the project, if approved, may not start until beginning 2022.

Frans will send all SG members a text for your college to pre-confirm its commitment to the E4C project; this provisional confirmation is necessary to ensure that Flemming has the correct information for planning etc. the project. Once they have been formally released, all colleges will be issued the formal mandate statement.
