EMEU network to submit KA2 'crossover' project
After two successful projects, EMEU4Engineering and EMEU4ALL sectors which were awarded with European awards (Best Practice, 2016 and Success story, 2018, the EMEU network is currently preparing a third KA2 project 2021-2024, EMEU4Crossovers.
The virtual activities and study modules from the previous projects have been developed for use within specific vocational sectors, e.g. Health care, Marketing or Engineering. However, in our global society anything and everything is connected which is reflected in a growing need for innovative products, services and social innovation. An app is used to monitor our heart rate, to track and trace the whereabouts of parcels, to offer online fitness services to elderly people, and very apt, to monitor whether people have been infected with COVID-19 (ICT and Health Care), and so on.
Many online sources have become available that support our belief that education and industry are entering a new era in which teaching and gaining practical experience are the result of a much more comprehensive approach to what society needs and thus to what students need to learn. E.g., in the Human Capital Agenda, top sectors in industry conclude that they are anxious to collaborate with education on creating crossover areas so that students may become water-architect, energy grower or garden technician.
PISA states in their Handbook on Global Competence “that every school should encourage its students to try and make sense of the most pressing issues defining our times. The high demands placed on schools to help their students cope and succeed in an increasingly interconnected environment can only be met if education systems define new learning objectives based on a solid framework, and use different types of assessment to reflect on the effectiveness of their initiatives and teaching practices.”
If approved, the EMEU4Crossovers project will offer its partners opportunities to start preparing their students and staff for the demands of this fast-changing, interconnected environment.
