Emeu network students help each other make workshops greener

With the aim of developing language proficiency in the foreign language, fifteen Armeria Eskola students and fourteen BSMDM Munich students have come together to identify the needs of making the workshops greener and learning strategies using digital media. ‘How Green is Your Workshop?’ project was carried out virtually following the EMEU concept for peer learning activities at a distance.

After learning about the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, students have developed a plan to make the workshops more ecological using the idea ‘communal work’. The first step has been to introduce and share in pairs their hobbies and interests with their counterparts.

Subsequently, a questionnaire was prepared that was sent to know the state of the workshop. The type of energy they use the most, the recyclability or not of the materials they use, the measure they take against carbon dioxide emissions or the application or not of the circular economy were some of the questions proposed. Based on the analysis of the responses, students made a reflection and prepared an improvement plan for their partners.

Motivated by learning about the ecology of the workshops and sharing ideas with people from another country, students have become aware of the consequences of their doing in the workshop and the workplace, in general. As well as that, they practiced and improved their English by using the foreign language in a real situation.
